Louise Wojcik Obituary

Louise Elaine Wojcik, 88, of Morgantown joined her husband in heaven the late Dr. Albert F. Wojcik. She passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, quietly in her sleep at Morningside at Bellgrade Assisted Living in Midlothian, VA.

Louise was born July 10, 1926 in Fairchance, PA a daughter of the late Stephen and Marion Saluga.

She was raised on the family farm in Zanesville, OH where she began her love for animals and gardening. Following graduation from Roseville High School, she furthered her education at Morgantown Business College graduating with a degree in business. As a young bride, Louise was actively involved in her community. She was the co-founder and sponsor of the West Virginia University Aesculapian Society, a co-founder of West Virginia University School of Pharmacy Women's Auxiliary, and served as Vice President of the Young Junior Women's League of Morgantown. She passionately taught children with mental disabilities skills to cope with their daily needs. As a mother, Louise instilled her compassion in the community on her sons. The family actively participated in the United Way; in addition, the family served the American Cancer Society where Louise helped patients and families through their struggles, serving in various capacities on the board as well as a volunteer. She proudly supported the Wiles Hill Boy Scout Troop 44 as den mother while her youngest son was a member. Both Louise and Albert enjoyed being members of the Morgantown Cotillion Club and Knights of Columbus. In her later years, she was a member of the St. John's Women's Auxiliary and served the Chancery Hill Historic Society in various capacities while being instrumental in keeping Wagner Road in its original beautiful brick state. Her love of gardening won her various local and regional awards being featured in the local paper and several magazines. She was an avid outdoorsman enjoying ice skating, skiing, and fly fishing; belonging to a fishing club and the former Mountaineer Ski Club at Chestnut Ridge Park. Louise's artistic endeavors included oil painting and embarking on the birth of Wojcik Stained Glass Creations. Through her business, she repaired and designed large stained glass pieces including windows, church windows, lamps, hanging chandeliers, sun catchers, and the infamous Miss West Virginia's stained glass gown featured in the Miss United States Pageant.

She is survived by her younger sister and spouse Dorothy and Richard Costelow; sons and daughter-in-laws: Robert and Elizabeth Wojcik and Fred and Lynn Wojcik; grandchildren: Laura and George Paccheco, Robert Mark Wojcik, Vanessa and David Hilling, and Justin Wojcik; great grandchildren: Keifer and Isabella Paccheco and Jenna Marie, Erica Paige, and Bailey Nicole Hilling.
