Lowell Thomas "Pappy" Clark, 76, loving husband, father and grandfather, of Borgman, WV died on Friday, January 13, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, surrounded by those who loved him dearly.
The youngest of six children, he was born on October 26, 1940 in Borgman a son of the late John Bernadine and Evelyn Aseneath (Thomas) Clark.
Lowell was a graduate of Kingwood High School Class of 1958, where he was the captain of the baseball team and served as a Buckwheat Festival Escort. He was one of the most successful youth league coaches in the area, coaching the Pirate and Clear Mountain Bank Little League Teams. He also coached the Red Falcon Youth Football Team.
He worked for Island creek Coal Company as a section foreman driving the headings for the longwall machine, retiring in 1993 with over 33 years of service. He also served as an EMT for the mines.
Lowell was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Kingwood. He was a 3rd degree member of Council # 9578 Knights of Columbus in Kingwood and a 4th degree member of the Marian Assembly #2114 Knights of Columbus in Fairmont. He was the substitute for Santa Clause for local nursing homes and his church.
He instilled the love of hunting and fishing in his son and grandsons and was quite successful in keeping meat on the table. His love of God and family was always evident.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss, is his loving wife of 55 years, Savilla Susan (Williams) Clark; his son, Danny and daughter-in-law Trudy and grandsons, Daniel and Matthew Clark; his daughter, Cindy Clarkson and son-in-law Jim and grandsons Mac and Alex Clarkson; two brothers, Miles and Maxine Clark and Lynwood and Shirley Clark all of Kingwood; two sisters-in-law, Caroline Thomas of Denver, CO and LeaAnn Miller of Massillon, OH.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers John "Jack" Clark and Larry Clark; his sister, Loralli Clark; sister-in-law, Christine Clark; brothers-in-law, Henry, Duane and Charles Williams.
Friends may call at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel on Monday, January 16, 2017 from 1-8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at St. Joseph's Chapel in Howesville at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Father Andrew Switzer as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Howesville.
