Donnie A. Thorn

Donnie A. Thorn, 61, of Kingwood, WV, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, at his home.

He was born May 4, 1958, in Kingwood, a son of the late Walter “Buck” Thorn and Kathleen (Greaser) Welch.

He worked for Decker’s Creek Limestone for over 20 years as a truck driver. Donnie truly enjoyed the outdoor life, whether it was camping, fishing, hunting or out running his bear and coon dogs with his friends who shared the outdoor life with him. Donnie is survived by two daughters, Kyla Dawn Thorn, Kayla Marie Burkhart and husband Nick; his former wife of 28 years, Carla Marie Thorn; one brother, Daniel James Thorn; one sister, Doris Marie Miller; four nephews, Jay Miller, Ray Thorn II, Matt Thorn, and Eddie Thorn; two nieces, Lynette Perkins and Brenda Miller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Thorn and Eddie Thorn.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, from 4-8pm; on Thursday, October 24, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Arnold “Dee” Hewitt as eulogist. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Howesville.

The family would like to thank those who helped in a special way, Joe Stonebraker, Roger Cole, Pete & Pearl Wilson and brother Danny. To those friends who stopped by to visit and those who took time to give him a call. Thanks to the nurses from WV Caring and Interim Health Care of Morgantown who helped in caring for Donnie.
