Esther (Kelley) Opel

Esther (Kelley) Opel, 98, of Kingwood, WV died Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Hopemont Hospital in Terra Alta.

Esther was born on July 6, 1921 in York, PA and was a daughter of the late Dorsey and Mary (Faust) Kelley. She retired with over 10 years of service as an aide at Hopemont Hospital. She was a home maker and enjoyed crochet, attending to her gardening, crafts, cooking and baking.

Esther is survived by three sons and spouses; Ronald and Kathy Opel of Tunnelton, David and Teresa Opel of Kingwood, Roger Opel and Deb Hemler of Albright; two daughters and spouse; Dolores Vogelsong of State College, PA, Barbara and Bill Luckel of Terra Alta; one son-in-law, Howard Smith of Buckhannon; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bernard Carl Opel who died on May 8, 1992; one daughter, Donna Smith; and one son-in-law, Ed Vogelsong.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel 295 South Price Street on Monday, December 23, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. the time of the funeral service with Mr. A. Craig Rotruck officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood.
