Heaven gained an angel as Marguerite Julia Zuchowski Marrara, 92, of Kingwood, WV passed away on March 19, 2018. Marguerite was born in Tunnelton, WV on June 11, 1925, the daughter of Joseph Zuchowski and Veronica Halko Zuchowski.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Joseph P. Marrara, Sr.; her parents; 6 brothers and sisters: John Zuchowski, Jr., Gertrude Musick, Edward Andrew Zuchowski (infant), Helen Miller, Valera Patterson, Dorothy Newcome; 12 brothers- and sisters-in-law: Edna (Hamilton) Zuchowski, Michael Musick, Charles Miller, Robert (Pat) Patterson, Shirley Pratt Zuchowski, Tom and Anna Marrara John, Rocco and Mary Jane Schifano Marrara, Ernie and Frances Marrara Shepherd, and Robert Marrara.
Marguerite is survived by three children: Joseph P. (Angela Wright) Marrara Jr. of Kingwood, WV, Ronald (Melinda Fritz) Marrara of Morgantown, WV, and Joanna (Gary Hilgar) Marrara of Kingwood, WV; five grandchildren: Melanie (Stephen) Nehilla of Mechanicsburg, PA, Thaddeus (Emily Kasky) Marrara of Pittsburgh, PA, Mary (Matthew) Hagedorn of Mt. Morris, PA, April Marrara of Morgantown, WV, and Lisa Hilgar of Kingwood, WV; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother: James Zuchowski; four brothers- and sisters-in-law: Sandy (Argraves) and Domenick Marrara, Jr., Dale Newcome, Mary Lou (Herring) Marrara; many nieces, nephews, and godchildren; and close friend and caretaker Cheryl Williams.
Marguerite was the proud valedictorian of Tunnelton High School, Class of 1942 and a graduate of Clarksburg Business College. She graduated with honors and pursued a career as a secretary and business woman that lasted over 70 years. She was A devout Roman Catholic, she was a member of St. Sebastian's Parish. Marguerite was also a spirited WVU Football fan and a delighted music box collector, who was ever eager for Buckwheat Season to begin. Above all these things, Marguerite was always a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Other than her extensive and cherished family, one of Marguerite's greatest legacies was her ability to befriend anyone, to hear the stories of new friends, and to remember and truly value the important details of their lives.
Marguerite was a very kind and giving person to everyone she encountered. One of her favorite sayings was "treat others as you want to be treated", and she practiced what she preached by spreading kindness wherever she went. She always encouraged people to do their best in the face of adversity and not give up.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 21 from 2pm-4pm and from 6pm-8pm at Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street. The recitation of the Rosary will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Divine Mercy Chaplet. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 322 East Main Street, Kingwood, WV on Thursday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Andrew Switzer, Rev. Yesu Golla, H.G.N., and Rev. Penumaka Manikyam's Rao, H.G.N. as co-celebrants. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Howesville, WV.
