Vernon Creed Field

Vernon Creed Field, 88, of Kingwood, passed away in the loving arms of Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Vernon was born April 14, 1929, in Kanes Creek, son of the late Lawrence Wayne and Edna Marie (Pell) Field.

He continued working even after he retired as a brick mason from March Westin, Inc. in 1984. He was an avid hunter, baseball player and coach. Vernon helped start the Little League Organization were he coached many teams in Preston County. He was a fan of many baseball teams, with the Pittsburgh Pirates being his favorite. Vernon was a member of the Kingwood Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed playing his guitar and was a fan of Hank Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Maxine Yvonne (Beveridge) Field; one daughter and spouse, Diana Lynn and Charlie Allen Johnson of Tunnelton; one son and spouse, James "Rusty" and Shawn Renee Field of Kingwood; one sister, Geraldine Shuman of Dogtown Rd.; four grandchildren, Travis Field, Cody Field, Brian Johnson and Ashley Britton; four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and wife, Carl and Jeanne Field; two sisters and spouses, Loretta and Don Stuchell, Elaine and Don Chidester; one brother-in-law, Fred Shuman.

Friends may call at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street; Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Detrick officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in Vernon's memory to the Kingwood Church of the Nazarene, 125 Wellsley Street, Kingwood, WV 26537.
