Armeda Wilson Obituary

Armeda (Caputo) Wilson, 93, of Kingwood passed away on June 1, 2022 with loving family by her side.

She was born on January 5, 1929, in Monessen, PA, the ninth child of twelve to the late Rose Munhin (Rosa Mancino) and Joseph (Giuseppe) Caputo.

Armeda was a loving mother and grandmother and sister. She was a long-time member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.

Armeda attended Rivesville High School and Euclid Academy of Cosmetology in Cleveland, OH. After marrying Bud, she became a Navy wife for a brief time. The couple moved to Kingwood in 1952 and started a family. Armeda joined the Wesley United Methodist Church in 1955. She was a member of the Martha Circle, Bereavement Committee and Alter Guild. She also tutored for Literacy Volunteers and she  contributed to the Buckwheat Festival as a ticket seller at the Community Building and Information Building during the Buckwheat Festival until 2012.

She for a time worked as a licensed beautician and operated her own shop in Kingwood in the 1960s. Later employed by the Preston County Board of Education as a reading tutor, she retired after 20 years of helping children learn to read in various county elementary schools. Her favorite role by far, through was being “Grandma” to her grandson and great grandchildren. After retiring, she became a member of the Late Bloomers, the Kingwood chapter of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed participating in hosting events. Spending time with her grandson and vacationing at the Outer Banks, NC., were some of her post-retirement joys.
