Harriett Stump Obituary

Harriett Jacqualene (Latham) Stump (Jackie)

Granddaughter of Tony Russell McNear (Valley Point, WV) and Mellisa Melinda Pearl Sypolt (Bridgeport, WV) Daughter of Ida Ellen (McNear) Latham Eye (Terra Alta, WV) and Charles William Latham (Leckrone, PA) Wife of Willis J. Stump (Albright, WV) departed this life on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the age of 80 years .

Jackie was born at the site of the one-room school in the Whetsell Settlement area near Kingwood, Preston County, WV on July 5, 1940. She attended Kingwood High School and was married to her husband on August 12, 1957 who she traveled with to various U.S. Army installations in the United States and England where she worked in administrative facilities. She and her family returned to Masontown WV in 1970 for a short period of time then on to Kingwood, WV. Over the years she worked as a physical worker at the Kenny Shoe Factory; administrative office staff at Preston Memorial Hospital and administrative specialist for Hogan and Barger, MDs in Morgantown, WV until her retirement in 1985.

Jackie loved crafting (pottery, sewing, knitting, puzzles and making peanut butter fudge candy). She especially loved being serviceable to others and was always there to assist those who needed her help. More than anything, she loved her family and cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She was a prolific baker of all things sweet and fattening and she always cooked for an army where she expected us to eat it all. She looked forward to traveling, family reunions, birthday parties, decorating her home for every holiday and watching the Hallmark Channel.

She was a member of the Grafton Church of the Nazarene in Grafton, WV. She served her church and church family with her attendance, tithing and emotional support. She also served as church board member, secretary, and treasurer. Her faith and trust in her Lord Jesus Christ sustained her through her life and was an example of what a spiritual journey looks like. She recently left WV and moved to Pittsburgh, PA where she lived until the time of her passing. She had attended the Lincoln Place Church of the Nazarene where her son Joseph Stump is pastor. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving immediate family as well as her spiritual family of the Church.
