Julie Marie Shrout, age 54, a life-long resident of Masontown, West Virginia passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Julie fought and won a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia but later succumbed to complications arising from a Stem Cell Transplant she received last summer.
Julie was born July 20, 1965 and graduated from West Preston High School in 1983. She worked in the healthcare industry for the remainder of her life. As a cancer survivor she had dreams of helping others diagnosed find strength and hope in their recovery. She loved travelling the world with her husband, spending time with her children and grandchildren, cooking, shopping, and listening to country music. Julie’s laughter, sense of humor, and beautiful smile could light up any room. She was a woman who had the answer to any question, the most beautifully manicured nails, and a true talent for decorating. But what Julie loved most was undoubtedly her family.
Julie is survived by her husband of 38 years Dale Shrout; daughter Brandy Shaffer (Jimmy); sons Jeffrey (Lauren Luzier), Jeremy (Jason Stuart), and Joshua; and four grandchildren Lincoln and Carter Shaffer and Maryn and Henry Shrout. She is also survived by parents Janet and Bob Wood; siblings Douglas Taylor, Kristina Teter, Stacy Adkins, Bobby Wood, Shawn Wood, and Steven Wood. Julie also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, and her beloved Labrador Stella.
Julie was preceded in death by her mother and father Louise and Louie Pegley.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel; 295 South Price Street, on Sunday, February 2, 2020, from 2-4 and 6-8pm, on Monday, February 3, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Barry M. Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Masontown Cemetery.
