Monte David Howard Jr.

Monte David Howard Jr., 72, of Kingwood, WV, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at Preston Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1951, in Morgantown, the son of the late Monte D. Howard Sr. and Joann R. (Stewart) Howard. Monte is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda Kay (Darlington) Howard.

Monte was a 1969 graduate of Kingwood High School and he had worked as an operator and scale master at Albright Power Station. He was a member of the NRA and St. Sebastian Catholic Church.

Monte was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed music, especially rock and roll. He loved fly fishing with Brenda, and spending time with his grandsons, great grandson, family and friends.

Monte is also survived by his three daughters, or “Daddy’s Girls”, Carla Martin (Kenneth), of Dublin, VA, Bianca Peaslee (Joey), of Rowlesburg, WV, Monnie Jo Gribble (Eric), of Kingwood, WV; six grandsons, Matthew (Sarah), Connor (Haleigh), Emery, Alex, Haden and Gavin; one great grandson, Bex; two brothers,  Randy J. Howard (Mishell), of Kingwood, Robert G. Howard, of NC; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

In addition to his parents, Monte is preceded in death by a brother, John Kenneth Howard.

Friends and family may call at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV 26537, on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 3pm to 7pm. A prayer vigil will be held at 7pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 322 E. Main Street, Kingwood, WV 26537 on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11am. Father Dominic Athishu as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Howesville.
